Chrissy Teigen is not necessarily known for keeping things private — and that’s something I love about her. She’s been candid about everything from her mental health to her period breakouts to her boob tape hacks in the past and she’s so honest on Twitter many people feel less like fans and more like friends (hi Chrissy, it’s me, your aspiring BFF). Of course, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t like to keep some parts of her personal life, well, personal. That’s why when she got pregnant with her second child, she told E! News that she and husband John Legend were going to keep the sex of baby number two to themselves for just a little while longer. That is, until right after the Grammy Awards late Sunday evening when Teigen announced via Instagram that she is expecting a baby boy.
Due to the fact that the couple uses in vitro fertilization (or IVF), they knew at insemination what sex their progeny would be. However, the two discussed things and decided to keep the secret between them for as long as possible. According to E! News, Teigen said, “We knew when we put it in but John was like, ‘Make sure you don’t say it. Let’s have one thing for us’ and of course I’m probably going to end up saying it but I’m just going to do this favor to him for as long as I can.”
Apparently, this was as long as she could, and she sure picked a good night for the reveal. She casually snuck the information into a sly caption on one of her post-Grammy photos, writing, “mama and her baby boy.” The image was also sent to her Twitter account, and fans were overjoyed. The best response, however, might’ve been this one:
And as for what they’ll name the new baby? We’ll just have to wait and see.
