EASTENDERS have finally revealed the real reason why Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell drowned in a swimming pool on New Year’s Day.

Ever since the sisters met their grisly end on Ronnie’s wedding day, both viewers and Ronnie’s husband Jack Branning have been desperate to know exactly what happened.

And tonight’s episode the truth was finally revealed, and the news was devastating to all involved.

Sitting down with Jack, Max Branning and Ronnie and Roxy’s mum Glenda, a policeman tells the group the results of the girls autopsy.

He says: “Roxy had a heart attack when she was in the swimming pool and Ronnie drowned.”

Still unable to get over the tragic death of his beloved wife, Jack lashed out and blamed Roxy for Ronnie’s death.

Concluding that Ronnie died trying to save her sister, Jack ranted: “A heart attack? She’s 38 years old. This is their life, innit? Roxy messes up and Ronnie tries to save her.

“That’s what was on the CCTV wasn’t it? That’s why you were afraid to tell me.”

The furious former policeman then proceeded to put the pieces together and it wasn’t long before he figured out that Roxy’s drug issues were the cause.

He raged: “You know what this is? You know why people have heart attacks in their 30? It’s years and years of her shoving white powder up her nose.

“Yes, this is what coke does, it damages the arteries.

“If she hadn’t have been off her stupid face like she always was. That’s why Ronnie’s dead, that’s why Matthew doesn’t have a mum and that’s why I’ve spent the while afternoon trying to cover up my kids.”

With Glenda in tears over the loss of her two daughters, Jack showed little sympathy.

Turning to Glenda, he sneered: “Because of your junkie daughter!”

With the news about his wife hard to take, will Jack go through with his plans to leave Walford?
