EMMERDALE stars Danny Miller and Ryan Hawley have hit back at fans criticising their characters’ upcoming nuptials.
Aaron Dingle and Robert Sugden are soon set to tie the knot on Emmerdale.
Fans of the couple have been left eager to watch the ceremony, as the ITV soap have teased Robert will surprise Aaron with a wedding the day before his prison sentence is revealed.
But, given that the boys will be marrying in The Woolpack, some viewers have argued their wedding won’t be ‘legal’.
One fan tweeted: “Can’t stop wondering if #RobronWedding is a legal wedding ceremony. All logic is telling me it isn’t, but I want it to be.”
Another said: “I admit thought that if this marriage isn’t legal then they shouldn’t have promoted it as a marriage #robron.”
Danny and Ryan, meanwhile, have now hit back insisting it’s the celebration of Robron’s relationship that is important – not a certificate proving they are officially married.
Speaking at an Emmerdale event ahead of the wedding airing, Ryan said: “It’s a bit of paper, innit.
“It’s more important two people making a step and commitment to themselves.
“It doesn’t matter to them or anyone else attending the wedding, it’s more about celebrating their relationship and the love they have for each other.”
“It’s like a private thing for them both,” he added.
Danny agreed and claimed: “They don’t need a piece of paper to define that they’re married.
“They’re both there and committed to each other… so no, I don’t think it’s a problem.”
The NTA winner reiterated: “It’s just a bit of paper.”
The boys’ comments come as fans are preparing to see Aaron and Robert’s wedding day finally arrive.
Although, Aaron has no idea he is about to wed his fiancé.
Robert comes up with a plan to surprise Aaron with a wedding ceremony, the day before he finds out whether he’ll be given a prison sentence for his attack on Kasim Sabet.
Aaron had beaten up Kasim, after getting involved in a spat between Kasim and his ex-boyfriend Finn Barton.
Fans, however, are questioning whether the boys actually end up getting married as halfway through the ceremony, the police arrive.
Could the police’s arrival put a stop to Robron getting their happy ever after?
