With a major week in the U.S. ahead of them, chart-topping K-pop group BTS hit the hair salon before flying to Los Angeles from Seoul. RM, V, and J-Hope were spotted at the airport with brand-new hair colors — and they even showed off their new looks on Twitter via fun little videos.
The most obvious hair-color change is on RM. I may or may not have gotten emotional seeing BTS’s leader with his brand-new charcoal gray hair. Of course, I was feeling the rose gold fantasy. I’m a bit biased, though. (And no, not in the bias sort of way. I have no idea who my BTS bias is anymore. SOS.) Back in June, RM told Allure that ash gray was his favorite hair color, as well as ash blue, because they “complement my skin tone well.”
Ever since then, I’ve been hoping he’d return to the smoky shade he had a couple times during the early BTS days. The silver shade RM had in the “For You” music video, in particular, was everything. Now that his hair is gray once again, I can’t help but agree that it does complement him well. I respect a man that knows which colors work for him.
I’m looking forward to seeing how RM styles the new darker gray shade when he appears on The Late Late Show With James Corden, Ellen, and Jimmy Kimmel Live over the next couple days, as well as the American Music Awards on Sunday. My fingers are crossed for similarly smoky eye makeup. (In case you feel inspired to dye your hair gray now, here are some tips to keep in mind.)
Not to make them side notes, but V and J-Hope also refreshed their hair hues for the occasion. Both went with more vibrant variations of the shades they’ve had for the past couple weeks during this comeback. V dyed his hair an ashier shade of gray, which we got a sneak peek at in the “DNA” music video.
J-Hope, on the other hand, took his copper up a notch with a fiery red hue. (can we take a second to appreciate how amazing his skin looks, too?)
Suga tucked his hair under a bucket hat. What are you hiding, sir? My fingers are crossed for a new colorful shade. We’ll just have to wait and see if he veered away from the teal.
Now, hear the story of a 64-year-old woman who learned to love her naturally gray hair:
