ATOMIC Kitten member Michelle Heaton has revealed the truth behind recent pictures of her vomiting while on tour.
The mum of two has joined original Atomic Kitten members Kerry Katona and Natasha Hamilton for their tour of Australia and New Zealand.
The band’s third member, Liz McClarnon, isn’t able to fly on long-haul flights so asked her friend Michelle to stand in for her.
Michelle is, of course, no stranger to being in a band as she enjoyed a successful stint in Liberty X.
But recent photos showed the tour had maybe got the best of her as she was pictured being unwell out of a taxi in New Zealand.
Now Michelle has appeared on Lorraine to explain the truth behind the unflattering pictures.
The star admitted she was “so embarrassed” when they came out.
She explained from Australia: “Do you know what Lorraine, I’m so embarrassed.
“It was the first day that we got there, we were so jet lagged and we had to stay up – we got there at like 5.30am in the morning.
“We went on a boat ride and I had a few glasses of wine and it was during the day and I just got, I got a bit of sun stroke.
“I did do a two-hour workout in the gym and I just got sick and that’s it.
“There’s no excuse and we’ve all been there.”
Kerry jokingly chimed in: “I’ve not.”
Michelle then suggested she might have behaved differently had she “known we were followed by paps.”
Natasha comforted her by saying they hadn’t done anything wrong, with Lorraine agreeing.
Michelle added: “We didn’t do anything wrong. I had a glass of wine it really wasn’t that mad.”
In a message to her 486k Twitter followers before the gig, Kerry confirmed her absence and praised her bandmates for carrying on.
She wrote: “To everybody in Perth I can’t apologise enough for letting you down!
“I’m, so upset with myself as I’ve never missed a gig before.”
She later told fans: “Wow I hear the girls did a great job at the gig! Sooo gutted at how poorly I feel and I wasn’t there to see you all!
“I am on the mend!!! But my god… really wasn’t a pretty site last night!”
Lorraine continues weekdays at 8.30am on ITV.
