If there is anyone you can count on to really create a moment at the Met Gala (besides Rihanna, because, duh), it’s going to be Zendaya. The 20-year-old is a red carpet chameleon, and is never afraid to push the boundaries when it comes to style and beauty – or celebrate her roots.
At the 2015 Oscars, Zendaya took the red carpet in a gorgeous Vivienne Westwood gown and a head full of beautiful faux locs, which sparked a controversy after Giuliana Rancic famously quipped that her hair looked like it smelled like “patchouli oil…or maybe weed.”
For the 2017 Met Gala, Zendaya opted to serve another afrocentric hairstyle on the red carpet. The actress turned out in a voluminous Dolce & Gabbana gown, with a soft, textured ‘fro that would be right at home at Studio 54.
This hair is giving me all the Diana Ross vibes and I am living for it, girl. I was already hyped over her dress, but the hair is just the icing on the cake. If it’s a wig, I need to buy it now. If it’s her natural hair teased out, I will down a full bottle of biotin pills in hopes that by morning, I can come into work with a mane like this one.
But most of all, I’m just hoping I don’t hear a single slick comment from the peanut gallery about this young lady’s enviable ‘fro.
